Nea Smyrni area guide
Where to stay in Nea Smyrni
Nea Smyrni has no hotel quarter. We found no hotel on or near the main square, and most stays listed in the town are apartments. The nearest hotels are on Syngrou Avenue at the western edge, about 650 m or more from a tram stop. Choose an apartment within a few hundred metres of a T6 stop for the square and the 17-minute ride to Syntagma; choose Syngrou only if you are driving.

Six tram stops cross the town: Aegeou, Aghia Fotini, Megalou Alexandrou, Aghia Paraskevi, Medeas–Mykalis and Evangeliki Scholi. Aghia Fotini is 140 m from the main square and 17 minutes from Syntagma; a stay within 300 m of any stop puts the square, the Grove and the coast within reach without a car.

Questions before you go
Is there a hotel on the main square?
We found none. The square is ringed by cafés and shops; the nearest hotels are on Syngrou Avenue, and most stays in the town are apartments.
How far is the tram from the Syngrou hotels?
From about 650 m for Hotel Hellinis to more than a kilometre for the larger hotels: a ten- to twenty-minute walk through residential streets.
Is Nea Smyrni a good base for a first trip?
Only if you want a residential town with evening square life and a 17-minute tram to Syntagma. There are no ancient sites, no metro station and no beach within walking distance; for a central base, see the Syntagma guide.
