Eat in Nea Smyrni on and around the pedestrian square: a family souvlaki grill on Eirinis, the Nea Smyrni branch of a Monastiraki kebab house on 25is Martiou, a Mexican bar-restaurant on Megalou Alexandrou, and a pastry and ice-cream counter on 2as Maiou. The town's old patisserie, Belle Vue, is a kilometre south by the tram. Wednesday is market day on three streets.

To the cafés on the square and along 25is Martiou and 2as Maiou, from the morning until late; several serve brunch and turn into bars in the evening.

Every Wednesday, on Megalou Alexandrou, Ellispontou and Arkadioupoleos streets.
Do I need to book?
The souvlaki and kebab counters take no bookings. The square is busiest on Friday and Saturday evenings, so arrive before 21:00 or call ahead for a table.
