What this policy covers

This policy explains how the Athens Guide website (athensguide.app) handles information when you read it. The site is published by an independent editorial operator and has no user accounts, logins, or checkout.

Stay22 lodging service and hotel maps

On selected accommodation-related editorial pages, Stay22 may connect automatically when the page opens to recognize lodging context and present or attribute third-party accommodation options. This is separate from optional analytics. Stay22 does not load automatically on legal, search, support, business, paid-partner, or hotel-map pages.

The Where To Stay guide uses a separate Stay22 hotel map. The map remains click-to-load: no map request is made until you choose Check live prices or the equivalent shortcut.

When a Stay22 service loads, the browser may send ordinary technical request data such as IP address, browser and device details, approximate region, page context, and affiliate attribution. Stay22 and a booking provider may process identifiers, interaction, or booking information under their own policies. Athens Guide does not receive your payment details. Stay22 privacy policy.

Global Privacy Control or the Keep automatic Stay22 off control blocks future automatic Stay22 connections. The hotel map remains separate and click-to-load. This choice applies to future page loads.

Optional analytics choice

Essential only keeps analytics and every other optional tool disabled. Allow all enables the site's optional analytics for future page and link measurement. Changing from Allow all to Essential only reloads the page so future optional requests stop.

Controller and legal operator

The data controller and legal operator is the Greek sole proprietorship below. Privacy questions may also be raised with the Hellenic Data Protection Authority (dpa.gr).

What we collect

• Aggregate, privacy-respecting analytics — anonymous page views and link clicks that tell us which guides help. No advertising profiles and no cross-site ad tracking.
• Nothing you type — the site has no contact forms, sign-ups, or comments, so we do not collect names, emails, or messages through it. To reach us you email directly (see Contact).
• A language preference may be stored in your browser so the site can remember English, French, or German.

Affiliate links and third parties

Some pages carry clearly labelled partner links to Viator, GetYourGuide, Agoda, Booking.com, and Booking.com Cars. If you click one, you leave Athens Guide for that company's own site, which uses its own cookies and privacy policy. A Stay22 hotel map stays unloaded until you choose to open it; once loaded, Stay22's third-party terms apply. We may receive anonymous referral credit if you book, but we do not receive your personal booking details. See the affiliate disclosure for more.

How we use information

We use aggregate analytics only to understand which content is useful and to improve coverage. We do not sell, rent, or share personal data, and we do not build advertising profiles.

Your rights

If you are in the EU or UK, you have the right to access, correct, or erase any personal data we hold and to object to its processing. Because the site builds no personal profiles, there is usually nothing to retrieve — but you can always email us with a request (see Contact).

We may update this policy as the site evolves. Any material change will be reflected on this page.
