Monastiraki area guide
Where to stay in Monastiraki
Stay in Monastiraki to have Metro Lines 1 and 3, the airport line among them, under the square and the Ancient Agora a short walk away. Perianth on Agia Irini Square puts itself 450 m from the station; A for Athens and the Cecil say they are next to it. Attalos is on Athinas, the street that runs north to Omonia. Three of the four advertise Acropolis views from a roof terrace or from the rooms.

Questions before you go
Is Monastiraki quiet at night?
Not around the square. The A for Athens rooftop bar stays open until the early hours, and on Saturday nights junk sellers set up stalls around Avissinias Square. Ifestou, the flea market street, empties and goes dark after the shops close.
How do I get from the airport to a Monastiraki hotel?
Metro Line 3 reaches Monastiraki in about 42 minutes with a €9 airport ticket, but from Sunday to Thursday evening the last direct train leaves early because of works. The X95 bus runs all night to Syntagma for €5.50, one metro stop or 11 minutes on foot away. A licensed taxi charges a flat €50 by day or €65 between midnight and 05:00.
Which hotel has a pool?
Perianth has a swimming pool on the terrace of its Penthouse Suite; ask the hotel before you assume access from another room. The home pages of the other three hotels do not mention a pool.
