Questions before you go

Can I park on Syntagma Square?

No. The square and Ermou are pedestrian, Amalias Avenue and Vasilissis Sofias are through roads, and the side streets are controlled zones with a three-hour limit. Use a garage.

What do three hours cost?

€6 at Polis Park Kaningos or in a white visitor bay if you find one, €14 at MetroPark and €16.50 at Automedon Park. The municipal garage under Klafthmonos Square publishes its rates as a PDF on the operator's page.

What about Sundays and holidays?

The City of Athens reported in September 2026 that the zones are not charged on Sundays and public holidays. The garages charge every day, and Automedon and the municipal garages open later on Sundays.

Can I pay for the zones without the app?

Yes. Kiosks sell parking cards worth €0.50, €1, €2 and €6; the paper scratch card is being replaced by the AthensWay app and card payments.
